Our project

Here are some documents that sum up our project.

Some of them were made to participate to a contest CGénial.

Sorry we won't translate them so they're written in French.

Spirit of the project

The InCOGnito project initiated with the desire of 4 students to enter the world of engineering sciences and complex project management.

The idea was born in August 2020, after the following observation: if a data encryption is made by a software on a computer, nothing protects the clear message in a hacked computer (a virus could see the clear message before its encryption); only a mechanical encryption, which is separated to the computer, ensures perfect inviolability.

We decided to take inspiration from the ENIGMA encryption machine and integrated it into a modern office environment with a view of combining the ergonomics of the new technology with the assurance of mechanical encryption.

The challenge of InCOGnito is to master both the mechanical aspect of the ENIGMA machine and also to make the mechanical part communicate with a numeric keyboard and a computer.

To meet these constraints, we had to broaden our knowledge in many areas, including computer science, electronics, mechanics or 3D printing.

Our goal, to discover the engineering sciences, is achieved!

Development of the project

Planning and searches

From August to January, we spent most of the time developing the project and planning the whole manufacturing.

We had to choose the materials we would use and find the suppliers while being careful with prices.

But most importantly, we had to take care that every part (mechanical, digital, electronic) does communicate with the others.

Manufacturing

The machine was mostly built during February 2021 during our two-weeks holiday.

We had already printed every mechanic component and designed/bought everything we needed.

We only had two weeks then to put everything up and make sure it works.

Final report to the contest!

Here are the docs we gave to the contest.
